Hello there!
Do you find yourself unsure where you land on the big issues that define our time? Let me offer you ways to clarify your values and priorities. Overwhelmed by information and not sure how to sort through it all? Or feel like trying is pointless? I want to help. Not sure how to start a conversation with others in your life about politics and the issues that matter to you? My tips can make it easier—not easy, but easier Want to get more involved in making change but not sure where to start? I have ideas as to how to get the ball rolling.
Or, conversely, you may know a lot and do a lot politically already, but just want to put things into better context, level up your understanding, or gain new ideas!
Either way, let this website be your guide for the often complex— but essential—arena of politics.
I have been a student of politics my whole life— it is part of who I am. Over my years, I have had the good fortune to study politics through my undergraduate, masters, and doctoral programs. For a decade and a half, I have taught politics to thousands of undergraduate students. Throughout, I have conversations about politics with everyone from family, friends, and colleagues to complete strangers. I am also a long-time participant in a local community coalition, co-direct an institute on civically engaged research, and have read more scholarly books and articles about politics and policy than I could count. I also consider myself a unabashed follower of news—always keeping track of minute-to-minute events in the political world.
Through all of this, I’ve developed a knack for explaining things while maintaining the ability to meet people where they are— and do so with a bit of creativity and humor. This will be a no “jargon” zone!
I have been dreaming about and planning this website for many years, so I hope you will join me on this journey. I think it is more important now than ever.
